Sport
Our school is committed to fostering positive attitudes through sport, with a strong emphasis on good sportsmanship, fairness, and teamwork. Every student is assigned to a sporting house and takes part in key events such as the annual Cross Country and Athletics Carnival. These events not only promote physical fitness but also build camaraderie and school spirit. As a member of the Tableland District Primary Schools Sport Association, our students also have opportunities to participate in interschool competitions, further enriching their sporting experience.
Excursions and Camps
At St Teresa’s, teachers thoughtfully plan real-world learning experiences that extend beyond the classroom. These include excursions and, in Year 6, an exciting camp experience. Such activities offer students rich, hands-on learning opportunities while also helping them develop essential life skills. They foster stronger connections among peers and create lasting memories. Every excursion and camp is carefully designed with a clear curriculum focus, complementing and enhancing the learning taking place in the classroom.
Swimming
St Teresa’s offers a swimming program according to the Health and Physical Education Curriculum for students in Years 2, 4, 6 (need to check this). It is co-ordinated by our staff in conjunction with swimming instructors at the Atherton Public Pool.
Reader’s Cup
The Reader’s Cup is a thrilling literary competition that celebrates a love of reading and gives our talented readers a chance to shine. Teams of four students from Years 5 and 6 dive into a selection of books, then go head-to-head with teams from other schools in a quiz-style challenge based on their reading. Points are awarded for correct answers, and the team with the highest score takes home the coveted Readers Cup trophy. It’s a fantastic way to encourage teamwork, comprehension, and a passion for books!
